Dr Jackie Davies is RAL Space’s Heliospheric Physics Programme Lead.
She has been working in RAL Space for over 20 years, in the provision of post-launch support for space-borne in-situ and remote-sensing instrumentation, and in the design and development of such instruments for potential future missions.
She is the Principal Investigator of the Heliospheric Imager instruments on NASA’s STEREO mission, Co-Investigator/UK Science Lead on NASA’s PUNCH mission, and Co-Investigator on ESA’s Cluster mission.
She has over 30 years of professional research experience in a number of different areas of heliophysics – the physics of the high-latitude ionosphere, magnetosphere physics, and solar physics – resulting in around 250 first-author / co-author publications in the refereed literature. Her current research interests lie in the study of the evolution of transient and background structures, such as coronal mass ejections, in the corona and heliosphere which can have detrimental effects on human technology and health via space weather.
