Brian Moyna
Head of Operations

Brian Moyna was appointed Head of Operations for RAL Space in 2019, bringing a strong focus on resource planning, estates management, delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Before taking up his current role, Brian led millimetre-wave systems within the Millimetre-Wave Technology Group. With extensive expertise across multiple engineering disciplines, he contributed to or led the development of a wide range of instrumentation for ground-based astronomy, radar, communications and atmospheric remote sensing from aircraft and satellite platforms. His career also includes leading aircraft instrument deployments for scientific campaigns around the world—from Kiruna in the Arctic Circle to Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.

A Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, Brian holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast.

As Head of Operations, Brian oversees RAL Space’s engineering and production, environmental test and assurance functions. He is responsible for driving operational excellence, embedding sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion, and championing a culture of continuous improvement. He also deputises for the Director of RAL Space and chairs the RAL Space Operations Board.
