Dr Sarah Beardsley - Director RAL Space
Sarah became Director of RAL Space in 2022 and leads around 300 expert staff to deliver science and technology programmes for the UK space sector.
Brian Moyna – Head of Operations
Brian was appointed to the role of Head of RAL Space Operations in 2019, with a focus on resource planning, estates management, delivery and stakeholder engagement. As Head of Operations he is also the Deputy Director of RAL Space.
Dr Jane Hurley - Head of Earth Observation and Atmospheric Science
As Head of the Earth Observation and Atmospheric Science Division, Jane is responsible for about 85 staff, in 5 diverse groups, covering technology development, provision of facilities, scientific research and data.
Dr Nick Waltham FREng - Head of Imaging Systems and Chief Technologist
As Head of Imaging Systems, Nick leads a team specialising in the system design, research and development, engineering, manufacture and test of bespoke electro-optics instrumentation.
Matt Fletcher - Head of Environmental Test
Matt has been in post since 2018, when the Environmental Test Division was formed due to the increased facility operations in RAL Space, and the addition of the National Satellite Test Facility.
Nigel Morris - Head of Space Engineering and Technology
Nigel is responsible for the Space Engineering and Technology Division, an expert team of engineers, technicians and project managers which support a wide range of hardware projects in RAL Space.
Paul Eccleston - Chief Engineer
Paul has been Chief Engineer for RAL Space since 2016. He is also the manager for the Ariel Mission Consortium, a group of more than 60 institutes across 19 countries in Europe and North America.
Philip Kershaw - Head of the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis
Philip leads the Centre of Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA), a division of data scientists and software developers providing data and information services for the environmental sciences community on behalf of NERC.
Professor Ian McCrea - Head of Space Physics and Operations
In 2013, Ian became Deputy Head of the Space Physics Division and when the division was amalgamated with the former Space Data Division in 2015, he took over as head of the resulting new Space Physics and Operations Division.
Richard Stamper - Head of Assurance and Business Operations
In 2018, Richard was appointed head of the newly created Assurance and Business Operations division in RAL Space, with responsibility for product, quality, safety and project assurance activities across the department.
Sean Stewart - Programme Manager for the National Satellite Test Facility
In 2017 Sean was seconded from Corporate Services to RAL Space to act as the Programme Manager for the National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF).
