This expertise, backed by RAL's extensive engineering capability, allows us to play a leading role in defining novel scientific instruments.

We provide support to our partners through the full life-cycle of a space project ranging from pre-feasibility/conceptual study through to design, assembly, integration, test and support to operations.

Physicists and engineers with skilled and experienced technical staff, with many years of world-class expertise in their respective disciplines, provide core capabilities to partners in academia and industry to enable them to deliver the space programmes of the Research Councils and national and international space agencies. We have a core project management group with extensive experience of delivering projects for our customers to cost, schedule, and quality.

Our integrated technology programme provides a very responsive solution to customer needs, enabling rapid prototyping and development. We have an imaginative approach to spacecraft technologies and have demonstrated the ability to develop novel applications for space derived from disruptive technologies such as nano-manufacture and have successfully transferred space technologies to terrestrial applications such as security.

We play a full scientific role on many projects and as such enjoy a relationship of mutual respect and benefit with our partners. To maintain this, we are committed to quality management of all aspects of its programmes and activities and are certified to ISO 9001:2008.
