This will be achieved through the development and integration of a novel photomixing local oscillator (LO) with a super-conducting tunnel junction (SIS) detector element in a common waveguide embedding circuit.

The project is a joint activity between the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the Institut de RadioAstronomie Millimétrique (link opens in a new window), France, and falls under the auspices of the AMSTAR programme. AMSTAR is a RadioNet (link opens in a new window) Joint Research Activity funded by the European Union Framework 6 (link opens in a new window) programme.
