Brian was appointed to the role of Head of RAL Space Operations in 2019, with a focus on resource planning, estates management, delivery and stakeholder engagement.  As Head of Operations he is also the Deputy Director of RAL Space.

Previously, Brian was responsible for millimetre systems in the Millimetre-Wave Technology​ Group. With his expertise in a wide range of engineering disciplines, Brian led or supported the development of a wide range of instrumentation for ground-based astronomy, radar, communications, and atmospheric remote sensing from both aircraft and satellite platforms. He led aircraft instrument deployments on scientific field campaigns in many locations worldwide, from Kiruna in the Arctic Circle to Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territories.  

Brian is a Chartered Engineer, member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast.​
